“Gerontech and Healthy Living” Concludes Successfully! Finesse Group Brings Technology into the Community and Walks Alongside Older Adults
Organised by Caritas Ngau Tau Kok Community Centre and co-organised by the Office of District Council Member Lai Wing Chun, the Community Service Office of Mr. IP Hing-kwok, JP, Finesse Group and Robo-e, “Gerontech and Healthy Living” was successfully held from 25 to 26 August 2026 at the G/F Atrium of Amoy Plaza, Kowloon Bay. The two-day event was open to the public free of charge. It attracted many older adults, carers and community members who came to experience, exchange ideas and ask questions. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming.
As one of the co-organisers of the event, Finesse Group would like to sincerely thank everyone who joined us. Seeing older adults, carers and community members actively experiencing different gerontechnology solutions and learning more about health management reminded us that innovation is no longer just a concept. It can truly enter the community, reach families and bring greater peace of mind, support and lifestyle choices to older adults.
Against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s ageing population, how to make good use of innovative technology to enhance older adults’ health, safety and quality of life has become an important topic of shared concern. Centred around four key areas — technology, health, care and living — the event featured technology demonstrations, health assessments, specialist talks and interactive experiences, enabling participants to discover how gerontechnology can be integrated into daily life and help older adults live more healthily and independently.
Showcasing a New Model for Smart Health
In the “Technology” zone, participants were able to experience home monitoring devices, health management equipment and an AI health assistant, while also learning about the locally developed CARER.AI intelligent health management platform. By using artificial intelligence to analyse health data, together with smart reminders and risk alerts, the platform helps older adults and carers better understand health conditions and demonstrates how data and technology can be transformed into practical support for everyday care.
The event also featured a tasting session of Café de Coral Group’s Taste Joy Soft Gourmet, helping visitors understand how innovative dietary solutions can support people with swallowing difficulties and make mealtime care safer and more dignified.
Strengthening Awareness of Risk Prevention and Health Management
In the “Health” zone, Caritas Ngau Tau Kok Community Centre provided fall risk assessments for older adults, with results available in just five minutes. This helped participants gain an early understanding of their physical condition and potential fall risks. Such simple yet practical assessments reminded everyone that prevention is better than cure, and that early awareness of one’s health condition is especially important for the safety of older adults.
There were also health talks, which shared information on wellness, chronic disease prevention and daily health management. These sessions helped participants explore how to build a healthier later life from the perspectives of Chinese medicine, nutrition and everyday lifestyle habits.
Helping Caregivers Reduce Pressure
In the “Care” zone, Finesse provided on-site pain relief massage and explanations by physiotherapists, allowing visitors to better understand common degenerative conditions among older adults and available rehabilitation solutions. We were pleased to bring professional care knowledge into the community in a practical and easy-to-understand way, responding directly to the real needs of older adults and caregivers.
Visitors were also able to try walking aids and rehabilitation assistive devices, and learn up close how exoskeleton robots can support walking training and daily activities, enhancing the mobility of older adults and people undergoing rehabilitation.
Presenting a New Blueprint for Ageing in Place
In the “Living” zone, the event showcased smart home solutions, AI-enabled care and age-friendly home design, helping visitors understand how technology can support ageing in place. The CARER.Home smart home solution combines environmental and health monitoring with the Robo-e in-person care service, providing health reminders, caring interactions and daily living support, while strengthening connections between older adults, their families and community services for a safer and more convenient home life.
Through CARER.AI, CARER.Home and Robo-e, participants were able to experience first-hand how artificial intelligence, smart homes and remote care can help build a safer and more convenient living model for older adults. Many visitors proactively asked about different application scenarios, further reinforcing our belief that technology must remain people-centred to truly respond to the daily needs of older adults and carers.
Bringing Practical Health and Lifestyle Information into the Community
Many participating organisations also brought practical health and lifestyle information to the event, sharing skincare product information, insights on the new normal of cross-border health checks, nutritional products, guidance on cybersecurity, age-friendly home design, and practical support for caregivers looking after older adults with dementia. Together, these organisations addressed the needs of older adults from different perspectives, making the event more comprehensive and closely connected to the community.
